Muchmore UK Rugracers Round 6

After a year of hard work and 6 months of close racing we came to the last round of the Muchmore UK RugRacers series. Stock was still incredibly close in the championship even after 6 rounds with Malc Hall coming into the last round with a 1 point lead over Matthew Worton and it was really going to be the person that could be fast yet consistent and reliable in this last round who would take the spoils. One foot wrong would lose either driver the championship.

Pro-stock had already been tied up by Paul Pinkney with Dave Saul trailing by 10 points.

Modified had already been tied up by Adam Rogers, with neither Brian nor Chris being able to catch him with their previous points hauls.

Stock qualifying
A fast and flowing layout started off quite low grip even after practice. All the stock heats found things a little slippy to begin but that improved later in the day. Malc took the early lead ahead of Matt and Richard Clarke. They were the only drivers to reach the early 27 lap mark and all 3 three were covered by just 1 second.

Round 2 saw improvements throughout the field, but Malc made the biggest step being the only driver hitting a 28 lap time with Richard clarke moving up to second and Matt only improving by a small margin. Round 3 saw a bit of a slump for all stock top runners, with only Matt Worton moving back up to second, coming within a second of a 28 lapper.

More to come tomorrow night!

Muchmore UK Rugracers Round 5

97 Drivers braved the icy and snowy conditions to travel to Muchmore UK RugRacers round 5 and they welcomed by the popular layout from round 2 which everyone liked again with some technical yet flowing track.

All the front runners in each class were in attendance, so we were in for another close day of racing which we promptly saw in the pro-stock class and through out qualifying. Ricky Copsey took TQ just .15(!!) ahead of Adam Mackman's Schumacher MI 3.5 and 5th to 15th covered by just 5 seconds so every tenth of a second would count!

Muchmore UK Rugracers Round 4

A very cold day outside, but some very hot racing inside Wodson park, the venue for the Muchmore UK RugRacers. A fast track with alot of flowing corners would reward drivers with a good setup and smooth driving and we saw alot of that modified and pro-stock. Pro-stock was incredibley close through the day with the top 3 changing positions every round and eventually ending up with 1.5 seconds covering them.

Qualifying

In stock nearly all the fastest times were set in the 4th round with the eventual FTQ going to Malcolm hall getting 26 laps in 305.97. The top 5 were as follows:

PlaceName Laps/ TimeBest Lap
1 Malcolm Hall26/ 305.9711.41
2 Jamie Hickin26/ 307.0211.48
3 Matthew Worton26/ 307.8911.38
4 Richard Clarke26/ 309.5111.60
5 Dave Ledger 25/ 301.4511.76

Pro-stock was a much closer affair with the top 3 being covered by 1.5 seconds after 4 rounds of qualifying. A new FTD was set in every round with the top positions changing constantly! Our winner from round 3, Bryan Loynes missing out on the final by 0.01 of a second, showing just how competitive the top 15 drivers all being very close.

FTQ finally went to Ashley wiffen, but the fastest lap of qualifying came from Ricky Copsy, being the only driver managing to break the 11 second barrier and narrowly missed FTQ by on 1.5 seconds. The top five in pro-stock were:

PlaceName Laps/ TimeBest Lap
1 Ashley Wiffen 27/ 307.45 11.04
2 Ricky Copsey 27/ 308.95 10.98
3 Paul Pinkney 27/ 308.96 11.03
4 Tim Wood 27/ 311.33 11.25
5 Philip Randall 26/ 300.70 11.17

In Modified we had world number 5, Elliot Harper, dominating the field. Elliot ended up nearly a third of a second a lap quicker than his nearest competitor Adam Rogers.

The top 5 mod after qualifying were:

PlaceName Laps/ TimeBest Lap
1 Elliot Harper 29/ 308.76 10.44
2 Adam Rogers 28/ 305.97 10.56
3 Brian Eldridge 28/ 310.98 10.77
4 Christopher Delves 27/ 302.12 10.95
5 Phil Raymond 25/ 309.68 11.77

Finals

Stock saw much cleaner starts with a new grid system implemented, where the staggered positions were gone and instead 2 meters slot inline were used.

After very close race, Malc Hall took the leg one win just 0.23 ahead of Richard Clarke. In leg two, a battery mix up cost Malc Hall the chance to contest for the win, leaving MAtthew Worton to the take the win a second ahead of Tim Wood and Jamie hickin.

the final top 3 were:

1 Matthew Worton 4 [ 3 1]
2 Richard Clarke 6 [ 2 4]
3 Malcolm Hall 9 [ 1 8]

In pro-stock, Ashley Wiffen managed to get away to a quick start and built up a commanding 7 second lead ahead of Paul Pinkney, but behind them was a very close battle for 3rd with Scott Morton just ahead of Luke Hobson by the smallest margin, finishing just 0.15 seconds ahead.

Leg 2 would see another close race upfront with Paul Pinkney taking the lead from Ashley on lap 9 after ashley made a small mistake. He managed to hold onto Paul, not letting him get away, but with Dave Saul just 2 seconds behind, he sitting there ready to stop Ashley from taking the overall win. Ashley managed to hold on to the end, finishing 1 second behind Paul, taking the overall win because of his FTQ.

The overall top 3 were:

1 Ashley Wiffen 3 [ 1 2]
2 Paul Pinkney 3 [ 2 1]
3 Scott Morton 8 [ 3 5]

In Modified Elliot continued his dominance of the day by taking wins in both legs. Adam Rogers picked up second with a 2nd and 3rd place.

That left the top three looking like this:

1 Elliot Harper 2 [ 1 1]
2 Adam Rogers 5 [ 2 3]
3 Brian Eldridge 6 [ 4 2]

Muremore UK Rugracers Round 2 - Video footage

More awsome video footage from Nick Bloy from Muchmore UK Rugracers round 2.

Muremore UK Rugracers Round 2(Full report)

A very wide open track welcomed the drivers attending round 2 of the Muchmore UK RugRacers which seemed mostly popular. There was a very strong entry for the pro-stock class with last years champion Malcolm hall not even making the A final this time around.

In stock, Alex Carter took TQ with Tim wood in second and Malcolm hall in third.

The stock A final saw Malcolm hall come up from third to first in the final with a 2nd and a 1st, getting the win due to Tim Wood slipping down to third in the last stages of leg 2 after alex carter managed to find his past.

Pro-stock saw TQ going to Tim Wood with just under a 3 second gap back to Ricky Copsey and Richard King a further 2 seconds back in third.

The first leg had a clean start with Ricky Copsy having a storming start moving from third to first on the first lap and over the next few laps getting a commanding lead only for his transmitter batteries to on him! this gifted Tim Wood an easy with quite few drivers dropping out from car failure.

Leg 2 saw another clean start with Tim Wood keeping his lead with Ricky Copsy staying close looking for a way past for about 4 laps. He got close through the first section of corners and clipped the back of Tim Wood flipping Tim's car. Ricky waited and this moved both to the back of the field. That left Pinkney in the lead and he stretched it out for an easy win. Back in 2nd was Richard King fending off a recovering Ricky Copsy.

Overall that meant Pinkney with the win and Richard King in 2nd and Ashley Wiffen in third with some consistent results in the finals.

Modified saw a stronger entry this round with the top gunners being Adam Rogers taking TQ from Glenn Doman and Brian Eldridge in third.

Unfortunetly for Brian, his good form didn't carry through to a final result with his car failing twice. Adam Rogers took a dominant win with two 1st postions which left Glenn Doman in second and Chris Kerswell in third, tied on points, but Glenn taking the position due to his higher grid position.

Congratulations to all our winners today and we hope everyone enjoyed the fun relaxed atmosphere! :) More photos can be found HERE and full results HERE. A full report can be found HERE!

Round 3 will soon be rolling round on December 14th giving us a month to recover after 2 rounds in weeks.

Here is a taster what we'll get from the full videos which will hopefully be released on DVD at later rounds of RugRacers.

6.5 + LiPo introduced into Open mod

With the succesful introduction of the lipo/6 cell nimh batteries and 6.5 turn motors into the STCC and then into the KO GP 2008, we have decided to include these into the Championship this year. The rules have been updated on the info page to correspond with this change. We've heard this method running mod is a lot of fun, yet much easier on run time etc, so if you fancy some fun, give it a try!

Junior price reduction
We love to see new blood coming into our sport and try and help with this, we're reducing the price for drivers 12 years and younger. The price has been reduced to £ 4. £ 8 will have to paid to book in on the Centralbooking website and £ 4 pound will be refunded on race day.
