Round 1 of Rug Racers saw a full compliment of stock drivers with a very competitive top end of drivers. First to top the time sheets was HRCC's alex carter, putting in a high 23 laps after a very consistent run.
With alex being the only driver to hit 23 laps in the first round it was clear all the other drivers needed to tweak their setups a bit to get to grips with the new muchmore sweep 32 tyres, although everyone knew the grip would come up rapidly as more heats were run. The other early contenders appeared to be Rich Clarke, Dave ringsell and Tim Wood.

Round two and with 2 hours of cars going round this rather technical track, the grip had come up and everyones times were improving the top 4 drivers all on 23 lap times, but alex had not improved this time so Dave Ringsell took up tq position for the time being, but again time's were to drop again with more rubber being laid down with every race.
FTQ 2:
| Dave Ringsell | 23/ 310.42 |
| Tim Wood | 23/ 311.25 |
| Alex Carter | 23/ 313.23 |
| Richard Clarke | 23/ 313.36 |
| Matthew Worton | 22/ 303.29 |
| Sam Flower | 22/ 312.28 |
Round 3 brought the fastest times with Tim Wood hitting the sweet spot moving 5 seconds clear of second place Alex Carter and third place Dave Ringsell.

No Improvements in round 4 meant the top 4 stayed in order with the bottom end of the top 10 shuffling around a bit.
FTD 4:
| Tim Wood | 23/ 303.17 |
| Alex Carter | 23/ 308.25 |
| Dave Ringsell | 23/ 310.42 |
| Richard Clarke | 23/ 313.36 |
| Andrew Simpson | 22/ 302.03 |
| Matthew Worton | 22/ 303.29 |
| Jeremy Stephens | 22/ 306.01 |
| Ian Edwards | 22/ 307.11 |
| Sam Flower | 22/ 308.56 |
| Steve Oyston | 21/ 306.17 |
Pro-stock:
Round 1 saw a very competitive field of pro stock entrants so we were looking forward to an exciting days racing in his class with the top 7 eventually being covered by 5 seconds.
First to the front in the first round of qualifying was event organizer Malc Hall, using his knowledge of the carpet and tyres to his advantage, being the only pro-stock driver to hit 24 laps. This was however to be his best time of the day with mistakes later in the day costing him a higher position on the grid. The rest of the top 6 were covered by just 2 seconds.
FTQ 1:
| Malcolm Hall | 24/ 311.82 |
| David Saul | 23/ 303.76 |
| Tim Wood | 23/ 304.46 |
| Andrew Low | 23/ 304.74 |
| Richard King | 23/ 305.23 |
| Charlie Ware | 23/ 305.63 |
Round 2 saw a few improvments with Bryan loynes popping up into 3rd overall and Richard "ginge" Thorpe up to 2nd, if he had bothered to finish his run he would have been 1 seconds of Malc Halls FTD time from the first round, but he thought he'd finished so stopped! "whoops."
FTQ 2:
| Malcolm Hall | 24/ 311.82 |
| Richard Thorpe | 23/ 299.81 |
| Bryan Loynes | 23/ 303.42 |
| David Saul | 23/ 303.76 |
| Tim Wood | 23/ 304.46 |
| Adam Smith | 23/ 304.65 |
With round 3 bringing the fastest times in stock, it was safe to presume it would happen in pro-stock too as predicably, it did. With the top five all hitting 24 lap times, it firmly dislodged Malc Hall from FTD position. positions 3 to 5 were covered by a second and round would bring more improvement for those who finally managed to hook up their cars.
FTQ 3:
| Tim Wood | 24/ 306.05 |
| Adam Smith | 24/ 307.81 |
| Paul Pinkney | 24/ 310.89 |
| David Saul | 24/ 311.29 |
| Malcolm Hall | 24/ 311.82 |
| Richard Thorpe | 23/ 299.81 |
The biggest improver who managed to find some pace in the fourth and final run was Paul Upton popping up to 3rd from 17th. A big congratulations has to go to Tim Wood having taken TQ in both stock and pro-stock with his serpent s400 having changed motors between runs so it had been a very busy for him so far and he still had to fend off the other drivers to keep his position in the finals!
FTD 4:
| Tim Wood | 24/ 306.05 |
| Adam Smith | 24/ 307.81 |
| Paul Upton | 24/ 308.71 |
| Richard Thorpe | 24/ 309.74 |
| Paul Pinkney | 24/ 310.89 |
| David Saul | 24/ 311.29 |
| Malcolm Hall | 24/ 311.82 |
| Andrew Low | 24/ 312.09 |
| Steve Lissamore | 23/ 300.35 |
| Scott Morton | 23/ 301.16 |
Mod:
With Just 10 modified drivers we had just the one heat. Unfortunetly this meant mixing different abilities which was bound to cause issues.
Coming back to 1/10th mod was adam rogers, whose Xray t2'008 had been looking very good in his previous visits leading up to rug racers so he was seen along with Chris Delves and Stew noble to be the main contenders for the day.
Taking an early lead on day where his car was to look the dominant force in mod was adam rogers hit and early 25 lapper. Another early top runner was Brian Eldridge, taking advantage of his knowledge and setup of the sweep32 tyres.
FTQ 1:
| Adam Rogers | 25/ 306.75 |
| Brian Eldridge | 24/ 302.08 |
| Chris Delves | 24/ 308.84 |
| Stewart Noble | 24/ 310.00 |
| Matt Pocknell | 23/ 310.85 |
| Tom Watts | 23/ 311.25 |
Round 2 saw the cleanest and fastest runs for Adam and Brian with their t2'008s. Adam took TQ with a 26 in 310.23 and his car looked absolutley planted, helped by the massive amount of grip given up by the carpet and the sweep32 tyres.
FTQ 2:
| Adam Rogers | 26/ 310.23 |
| Brian Eldridge | 25/ 305.96 |
| Stewart Noble | 25/ 310.06 |
| Chris Delves | 24/ 302.64 |
| Matt Pocknell | 24/ 307.55 |
| Tom Watts | 23/ 311.25 |
Chris Delves jumped stew in round 3 to take third place overall with brian and adam unable to improve on the track while it was its best.
FTD 3:
| Adam Rogers | 26/ 310.23 |
| Brian Eldridge | 25/ 305.96 |
| Chris Delves | 25/ 307.53 |
| Stewart Noble | 25/ 310.06 |
| Matt Pocknell | 25/ 315.54 |
| Tom Watts | 24/ 301.72 |
After the final round, Chris had managed to improve his time and come within 2 tenths of Brian but he would end up in third followed by Stew Noble who couldn't improve and Matt Pocknell who came very close to pipping Stew for 4th.
FTD 4:
| Adam Rogers | 26/ 310.23 |
| Brian Eldridge | 25/ 305.96 |
| Chris Delves | 25/ 306.17 |
| Stewart Noble | 25/ 310.06 |
| Matt Pocknell | 25/ 311.67 |
| Tom Watts | 24/ 301.72 |
| Graham Eldridge | 24/ 318.44 |
| Sean Oliver | 22/ 305.21 |
| David Stevens | 22/ 310.88 |
| Phil Raymond | 21/ 300.20 |
Finals
Stock:
Leg 1 got off a messy start With turns 3 into 4 closing the field up and after some bumping Richard Clarke came out worst as his car appeared to have turned off. The driver to gain most from this was Ian Edwards managing to slip through the havoc going from 8th up into 4th only to throw it away at turn 1 of the next lap throwing into the scenery!
After the eventful start things spread out quite nicely with Tim Wood dominating the rest of race to bring his serpent s400 home to leg 1 win with a 5 second lead over Alex Carter and Dave Ringsell, both driving Corally PHIs.

Leg 2 got off to a much cleaner start and for the most was a clean race with the top 6 all very close eventually being cover by 10 seconds at the finish line. Tim Wood managed to complete his clean sweep in stock with another healthy lead at the end of leg 2 but just a few seconds back down the road, Alex and Dave were fighting it out for 2nd and 3rd and eventually went to dave after a somewhat "suspect" overtaking manouvre on the last lap. As it did not effect the final outcome Dave was given a warning for his pass on Alex on the last lap.
Leg 2 results
With Tim taking both legs it gave him a clear and very well deserved Win the stock class with Alex Carter in second and Dave Ringsell in third. Looks like we're going to get some very competitive racing from the rest of the series!

Pro-Stock:
The start of leg 1 of the pro-stock finals got off an interesting start after some of the front runners got caught out by a lack of rear end grip/too much front end grip and with cars snatching into the first tight corners the inevitable collisions occured and the lucky chap to take the most from this was Dave Saul putting in some very quick early laps, to not only take the lead, but to extend it to give himself some breathing space.
Tim and Adam found there way soon after and started closing in on Dave Saul but Dave kept it clean and few more mistakes from Adam and Tim kept them close enough to each other to fight over second which eventually went to Adam. Dave kept a gap of about 4 seconds up front and took the win making for a very exiting 2 leg to come. Could Dave Saul take advantage again at the start of leg 2 and get a high enough position to hang on for the win? From 6th it would be very difficult but certainly not impossible!
Leg 1 results
Leg 2 got off to a much cleaner start with the drivers at the front keeping more control of their cars this time round. both Tim and Adam began to build a lead while the drivers behind scapped for positions 3, 4, 5 and 6.
By lap 3 Dave Saul was in 4th and slowly catching Paul Pinkney in 3rd. A mistake from Paul saw the gap close, but Dave had to slam on the brakes not to join him in the barrier! Scott Morton took full advantage of the lap 20 incident and moved into 4th. Dave dropped to 5th and had to chase from there to the end 3 laps later. 1st and a 5th gave Dave 3rd overall. Tim Wood took the overall win and Adam Smith in 2nd so that gave Tim the overall win with TQ giving his 3+1 the advantage over Adams 2+2.
Congratulations to Tim on a clean sweep of stock and pro-stock, though well deserved it certainly wasn't a whitewash so we can look forward to more close racing at round 2!

Mod:
With only 10 drivers and clear gap in skill, it was decided the fairest thing to do was split it down the middle at 5 and 5 for an A and B final. the positions would be merged at the end ro get the final scores.
However due to lack of time the races had to be remerged for the 2nd leg, which also meant remerging the leg one results. which caused some messy results. It was an unfortunate string of events but this is what it did for the results of mod:
